Microsoft Copilot for Security, the innovative AI-powered security solution from Microsoft, is set to become generally available on April 1, 2024. This cutting-edge platform, which utilizes a natural language interface akin to ChatGPT, is designed to enhance the capabilities of security professionals by integrating with Microsoft’s extensive security product suite and offering seamless integrations with third-party security vendors.

What is Microsoft Copilot for Security?

Microsoft Copilot for Security was previously accessible through an early access program under the name “Microsoft Security Copilot,” is now ready to provide comprehensive protection across various security domains, including compliance, identity, device management, and privacy. Vasu Jakkal, CVP of Security, Compliance, Identity, and Management at Microsoft, emphasizes that Copilot for Security acts as a “force multiplier” for the entire Microsoft Security portfolio, which consolidates over 50 categories within six product families into a singular, robust security solution.

Users can interact with Copilot for Security through a standalone portal, asking questions about their security infrastructure in natural language. The AI’s capabilities are also integrated within Microsoft’s existing security products, such as Microsoft Defender XDR, Intune, and Microsoft Entra, enhancing the user experience and providing valuable insights.

Copilot for Security extends its functionality by incorporating insights from third-party products, offering customized guidance and fostering a collaborative security environment. Microsoft has also introduced new features, including knowledgebase integrations, custom promptbooks for common security tasks, and detailed usage reporting.

When it becomes generally available, Copilot for Security will require an Azure subscription, and usage will be billed through a new Security Compute Unit (SCU) at a rate of $4 per hour. This consumption-based pricing model allows organizations to scale their AI-powered cybersecurity efforts according to their specific needs. For more information on preparing for the general availability of this transformative AI security solution, Microsoft encourages users to visit the Microsoft Security Copilot blog.
