The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) and Microsoft have announced an expansion of their global strategic relationship. This collaboration between Estée Lauder and Microsoft is set to redefine the prestige beauty industry through the establishment of an AI Innovation Lab, leveraging Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service. Jane Lauder, EVP, Enterprise Marketing, and Chief Data Officer at The Estée Lauder Companies, emphasized the role of technology in bolstering the company’s core strengths. “With Microsoft’s generative AI tools and extensive expertise, we are able to leverage ELC’s tremendous data to create more personalized consumer experiences and faster insights to action,” said Lauder.
The AI Innovation Lab marks a significant advancement in the ongoing partnership between Estée Lauder and Microsoft, which originated in 2017. This collaboration has led to the development of the Voice-Enabled Makeup Assistant (VMA), an innovative mobile application on iOS designed to assist visually impaired users with makeup application.
Launched in early 2023, this app utilizes Microsoft’s Azure AI technology and is currently available on iOS in the United States, United Kingdom, and Ireland. Plans are in place to expand the availability of the app to Android and other markets and languages soon.
