Microsoft 365 Copilot has launched new App Builder and Workflows agents, empowering users to create apps and automate workflows using simple natural language prompts—all within the Copilot experience. This innovative update, announced by Charles Lamanna, President of Business & Industry Copilot, is now available to participants in Microsoft’s Frontier program, further solidifying Microsoft 365 Copilot as an AI-powered productivity platform for modern workplaces.

What’s New in Microsoft 365 Copilot

With the introduction of the App Builder and Workflows agents, Microsoft 365 Copilot users can now:

  1. Build Apps in Minutes: App Builder allows anyone to design and deploy functional business apps—like dashboards, calculators, or task lists—drawing on existing Microsoft 365 content such as documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.  Microsoft 365 Copilot Unveils New App Builder and Workflows: Build Apps and Automate Work Tasks in Minutes

  2. Automate Workflows Easily: The Workflows agent turns everyday tasks into automated flows across Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Planner. Users simply describe the process they want, and Copilot generates the workflow, which can be edited and refined through conversation.  Microsoft 365 Copilot Unveils New App Builder and Workflows: Build Apps and Automate Work Tasks in Minutes

  3. Create Intelligent Agents: Employees can now build lightweight agents in Copilot Studio that answer complex workplace questions by leveraging SharePoint, Teams conversations, and other data sources, without any coding required.  Microsoft 365 Copilot Unveils New App Builder and Workflows: Build Apps and Automate Work Tasks in Minutes

How It Works

These new capabilities harness natural language prompts to streamline digital creation:

  • No Setup Required: Apps are created without database configuration, using Microsoft Lists for backend storage, and sharing apps is as simple as sending a link.

  • Real-Time Workflow Building: As users describe their needs, Copilot displays the flow step-by-step, supporting real-time adjustments within the chat-centered Copilot interface.

  • Security and Governance: All creations are protected by Microsoft’s enterprise-grade security, with management tools allowing admins to control access and compliance at group or organization-wide levels.

  • Integrated Experience: Copilot Studio offers a lightweight, embedded authoring environment for creating and refining agents, with deeper integration into business data and cross-service automation.
