For the first time in its four-decade history, Microsoft Flight Simulator is charting an entirely new course by landing on PlayStation 5. Set to launch on December 8, 2025, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 brings the franchise’s unrivaled realism to Sony’s platform, complete with a suite of cutting-edge features that make full use of the PS5 and DualSense technology.

The Most Ambitious Flight Simulator Yet
Developed by Asobo Studio in partnership with Microsoft Game Studios, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 offers the largest and most diverse aircraft roster ever, with up to 125 highly detailed planes ranging from nimble ultralights to supersonic jets. Pilots can take command of general aviation aircraft, rotorcraft, eVTOLs, airliners, airships, military transporters, and even fighter jets.
Players will be able to explore over 40,000 airports, 60,000 helipads, and all seven continents in breathtaking visual detail. With real-time air traffic integration, virtual aviation enthusiasts can take part in a truly global flight experience.
DualSense Controller Brings Real-World Immersion

On PlayStation 5, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 takes advantage of the DualSense® wireless controller’s advanced immersive features:
-
Adaptive triggers simulate resistance during takeoff, landing, and varying airspeeds.
-
Air traffic control (ATC) audio plays through the controller’s built-in speaker for cockpit realism.
-
Gyro controls, lightbar support, and the touchpad enhance in-flight navigation.
This level of tactile interaction ensures that piloting an aircraft feels more authentic than ever before on console.
New Career System and Missions
One of the major advances in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is its all-new career system. Players can progress through a wide range of aviation missions that build pilot reputation and unlock new opportunities. Career activities include:
-
Firefighting under hazardous conditions

-
Search and rescue operations

-
Aerial construction and agriculture

-
Challenging landings and rally races

-
Global photography and wildlife exploration

Competitive pilots can also dive into the new Challenge League, testing their skills against other players worldwide.
Supersonic Milestone: Boom XB-1 Jet

Coinciding with its PlayStation debut, Flight Simulator is introducing the Boom Supersonic XB-1, America’s first civilian supersonic jet demonstrator. For the first time, players can break the sound barrier in a Microsoft Flight Simulator experience.
PS VR2 Support Coming in 2026
PlayStation VR2 owners will soon have even more ways to experience the skies. In 2026, players will gain access to a free VR update, bringing full compatibility with the PS VR2 headset and Sense controllers.
Updates, Marketplace, and Community
Like the existing PC and Xbox versions, the PlayStation edition will receive consistent World Updates and Sim Updates. A robust marketplace featuring third-party aircraft, airports, and add-ons will also be available, ensuring a continuously evolving flight experience.
