Microsoft has joined forces with Orange Middle East & Africa (OMEA) in an attempt to redefine how Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) do business. This strategic partnership is set to accelerate the digital transformation of SMEs across 17 countries in the MEA region, marking a significant milestone in the journey towards digital inclusivity and economic growth.

At the heart of this collaboration is the shared vision of Microsoft and Orange to empower SMEs with the tools, technology, and training necessary to thrive in the digital economy. By leveraging Microsoft’s cutting-edge solutions, including Microsoft 365, Copilot, Azure, and Dynamics 365, alongside Orange’s extensive distribution network, the initiative aims to bridge the digital divide and foster innovation among the region’s SMEs.

The partnership focuses on three critical areas: enhancing access to key technology solutions, preparing SMEs for digital adoption through comprehensive training, marketing, and sales support programs, and establishing strong governance and performance monitoring to ensure the successful execution of the partnership. A joint steering committee will oversee the collaboration, with progress monitored through key performance indicators.

This initiative is not just about technological advancement; it’s a commitment to digital inclusion. Microsoft and Orange aim to support 15,000 businesses throughout 2024, with an ambitious goal to reach 1 million SMEs. This includes not only SMEs but also micro-businesses and the education sector, underscoring the partners’ dedication to enabling all economic players in the MEA region to benefit from digital transformation.

By combining our network and Microsoft’s solutions, we can provide SMEs with the tools and guidance they need to thrive in the digital economy.”

Echoing this sentiment, Lillian Barnard, Microsoft Africa President, highlighted the pivotal role of SMEs in driving economic growth in Africa. “SMEs are the engine of economic growth in Africa. By collaborating with Orange, we can help them adopt digital technologies and unleash their full potential to create jobs, stimulate innovation, and contribute to the economic development of the continent.”

This partnership between Microsoft and Orange Middle East & Africa is more than a business collaboration; it’s a beacon of hope for SMEs in the MEA region. By providing access to technology, tools, and support, Microsoft and Orange Middle East & Africa are not just accelerating digital transformation; they’re building a foundation for sustainable economic growth and innovation.
