Solid Snake has officially infiltrated Rainbow Six Siege on Xbox with the launch of Operation Silent Hunt, a full Metal Gear Solid crossover season that adds the legendary stealth operative as a permanent Operator. Available now via the Operation Silent Hunt Battle Pass, Snake brings a new intel gadget, a flexible gadget-scavenging ability, a stealth-focused loadout, and a season packed with Metal Gear-themed cosmetics and a limited-time [REDACTED] event coming later this season.
Operation Silent Hunt: Metal Gear Comes to Siege
Operation Silent Hunt is more than a simple cosmetic tie-in; it’s a full season themed around the Metal Gear Solid universe, complete with a new Operator, exclusive skins, and a special event that pairs Snake with Sam Fisher (Zero) in a stealth-focused mode. Solid Snake is fully integrated into the Siege roster as a year-round Attacker, and players can unlock him instantly with the new Battle Pass, which also includes Metal Gear cosmetics like a Psycho Mantis outfit for Smoke and future crossover skins for other Operators. A limited-time [REDACTED] event will arrive a few weeks into the season, featuring a 4v4 infiltration mode on a modified version of Nighthaven Labs inspired by an iconic Metal Gear location.
Soliton Radar MK III: Wallhacks, MGS-Style
Snake’s signature gadget, the Soliton Radar MK III, is a handheld device that turns intel into his main weapon by scanning the immediate area and displaying a floorplan of nearby rooms. The radar highlights soft walls and floors as dotted lines and striped areas, giving attackers clear cues for breaching and vertical play, and uses a three-color system to indicate danger: green for All Clear, yellow for Caution when a default CCTV camera is actively watched, and red for Alert when enemies are nearby.
When the radar hits red, Snake can activate Precision Mode, temporarily overclocking the device to reveal enemy positions and even their facing direction—complete with vision-cone style indicators that pay direct homage to classic Metal Gear Solid stealth UI. This level of intel, delivered without exposing a drone or camera to destruction, is unprecedented in Siege and lets Snake coordinate surgical pushes, post-plant monitoring, and synchronized team entries with pinpoint callouts.
On-Site Procurement: Loot Gadgets Mid-Round

To capture Snake’s improvisational style, Ubisoft has given him a second unique ability: On-Site Procurement (O.S.P.), which allows him to scavenge secondary gadgets from fallen enemies and allies (excluding team-killed allies). Snake can carry up to five different secondary gadgets at once, covering categories like frag, stun, and smoke grenades, impact EMPs, and breach charges, though he maxes out at one item per category and starts with only a single gadget.
You can toggle which gadget to pick up with the switch-ability button, letting Snake adapt on the fly—maybe grabbing an extra EMP to delete a laser grid, or restocking on frags after flushing out a roaming Defender. In a game where Operator utility often decides rounds, O.S.P. turns Snake into a flexible problem-solver who can fill gaps in team composition mid-match instead of being locked into his initial loadout.
Stealth-Ready Loadout and TACIT .45 Sidearm

Snake’s primary weapon choices nod directly to his Metal Gear roots: the F2 assault rifle for a high-fire-rate option with hefty recoil, and the PMR90A2 designated marksman rifle for players who prefer heavier hits per shot. The introduction of grip attachments helps tame the F2’s kick, while the PMR90A2 can be paired with a suppressor to better match Snake’s stealth fantasy.
The star of his loadout, though, is the new TACIT .45 pistol, a suppressed sidearm with an integrated suppressor and reflex sight designed for quietly deleting cameras and unsuspecting enemies. Inspired by multiple stealth pistols across Metal Gear Solid, the TACIT .45 is positioned as one of Siege’s more lethal sidearms, giving Snake a reliable, quiet option when slipping through enemy sightlines.
Metal Gear Sights and Sounds – Including David Hayter

Operation Silent Hunt doesn’t just drop Snake’s likeness into Siege; it brings along audio and visual callbacks that long-time Metal Gear fans will recognize immediately. The Soliton Radar’s alert sound, O.S.P. pickup noises, and the iconic exclamation “!” detection cue are all designed to echo their classic counterparts from the original games. Most importantly, Snake is voiced by his original English actor, David Hayter, who reprises the role to give the Operator the same gravelly delivery fans associate with the character.
Later this season, the [REDACTED] event will expand those references even further with cosmetics that dress Jackal as Gray Fox, Ash as Meryl, and more, bringing a full crossover treatment to Siege’s operator lineup.
How Defenders Can Counter Snake’s Radar
As oppressive as Soliton Radar MK III sounds on paper, Ubisoft and Xbox are clear that it comes with counterplay options for savvy Defenders. The most basic counter is to catch Snake while he’s staring at his radar, since he’s not aiming his weapon; quick peeks and aggressive swings can punish him before he relays intel to his team.
Beyond that, several Operators directly disrupt or confuse his radar. Alibi’s Prisma decoys appear as full Operator icons on the Soliton map, letting her flood Snake’s screen with false targets as long as she stays still. Vigil can cloak to completely avoid detection, while Mute’s jammers block radar scans and keep any Defender within their radius safe, tricking the device into reporting a green All Clear. Snake’s radar also only covers the floor he’s on and connected staircases, so Defenders can leverage vertical play—angles from above or below—to stay outside his detection radius while still threatening him.
