Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.3066 (KB5034209) was released to the Beta Channel today. This update is being released to the Beta Channel of the Windows Insider Program.
There are a number of new features that are being introduced in this build, as well as some fixes to existing issues.
The changes and fixes are categorized into two groups: those that are being gradually rolled out to Insiders who have opted to receive the latest updates as they become available with their toggle on, and those that are available to all users in the Beta Channel. Some of the fixes include resolving a tabtip.exe crash, an issue with dragging the Task Manager window, a crash when adding natural voices for Narrator in Settings, and a crash when setting up new languages in Voice Access.
The new features introduced in this build include support for the latest generation USB standard, USB 80Gbps. This feature will initially be available on select devices based on the Intel Core 14th Gen HX-series mobile processors, such as the new Razer Blade 18.
This is the first major version update of the USB4 standard and increases performance to 80Gbps from 40Gbps. It is fully backwards compatible with peripherals built for older generations of USB and Thunderbolt and works alongside all other USB Type-C features.
What is The Beta Channel?
The Beta Channel in Windows 11 is a part of the Windows Insider Program where users can preview and test features that are more refined and closer to what will be released to the general public. It serves as a middle ground between the early experimental builds of the Dev Channel and the final release versions of the Release Preview Channel. The Beta Channel offers a more stable testing environment, making it suitable for early adopters and IT professionals who want to explore upcoming changes without the higher instability risk found in the Dev Channel. In the Beta Channel, users can provide feedback that is crucial for Microsoft to address significant issues before the features are widely released.
