Microsoft has just released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.7051 (KB5067115) for both the Dev and Beta Channels, marking a significant moment for Insiders eager to explore new features and enhancements. This build is based on Windows 11 version 25H2 and brings a host of innovative updates, a new opportunity for channel switching, and groundbreaking user experiences for modern PCs.

Windows 11 Insider Preview Build on Dev & Beta Channel Updates: A Window of Opportunity

For the first time, Insiders in the Beta Channel are receiving the same 25H2-based Dev Channel updates as recommended updates. This temporary window allows Insiders in the Dev Channel to switch to the Beta Channel while updates remain in sync. Once the Dev Channel jumps ahead to a higher build number, Insiders will lose this seamless transition opportunity. Microsoft recommends evaluating your preferred channel now to ensure stability, as the Dev Channel may see less stable testing builds in the near future.

Ask Copilot in Taskbar

Windows 11 continues its push toward AI integration by launching the “Ask Copilot” experience directly in the taskbar. With one click, Copilot Vision and Voice features are accessible for seamless, natural interaction. Users can engage via text, voice, or guided support, making it easier than ever to find apps, files, or settings. As you type, results appear and update instantly, bringing powerful assistance directly into your workflow.

  • To enable this feature:
Go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Ask Copilot and turn it on.
The Copilot app can also be set to launch automatically at sign-in via its settings.

Ask Copilot uses existing Windows APIs to surface results, mirroring the familiar Windows Search experience without granting Copilot access to personal content. Privacy controls are detailed in Microsoft’s Copilot privacy FAQ, ensuring users retain control over their data.

Full Screen Experience for Handheld Gaming

Handheld gaming on Windows 11 takes a leap forward with expanded availability of the Full Screen Experience (FSE). Originally launched for the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X, this distraction-free interface is now rolling out for MSI Claw models, with additional OEM devices to be supported soon. The FSE offers console-style navigation, smooth game and task switching, and optimized system resources for immersive handheld gaming.

How to enable FSE: On supported devices, visit Settings > Gaming > Full Screen Experience, then select Xbox as your home app. FSE can be accessed from Task View or Game Bar, and some devices can boot directly into this mode on startup. A groundbreaking “shared audio (preview)” feature now lets Copilot+ PC users broadcast audio to two Bluetooth LE Audio devices simultaneously. Students can study with friends or family members can watch movies together—without sharing earbuds. Simply access the Shared Audio tile in Quick Settings, pair two supported Bluetooth accessories, and enjoy synchronized audio streaming.

Prism: Enhanced Emulation for Windows on Arm

Microsoft is enabling Prism, its x64 emulator for Windows on Arm, for more 64-bit x86 applications by default. This update adds support for additional CPU features and can even be toggled on for 32-bit x86 apps through emulation settings. Prism’s improvements mean even better compatibility and performance for Arm-based devices, helping bridge the gap as Windows evolves for new hardware platforms.

Feedback on compatibility or performance should be submitted via the Feedback Hub under Apps and the specific app in question.

Fixes Gradually Rolling Out

This build also delivers fixes for several common issues:

  • Keyboard and USB device connectivity errors seen after recent builds.

  • Problems in the Start menu, such as invisible folders after interaction.

  • File Explorer improvements, including responsiveness, launch time, and icon correctness for exe, cmd, and bat files.

  • Issues with desktop icons moving unexpectedly and tooltips failing in certain conditions.

  • Lock screen memory leaks and slow logins for new user accounts.

  • Settings UI tweaks, fixing overlapped search box buttons.

  • Audio and text rendering issues in protected content playback and apps with multiline text boxes.

  • Ethernet upload speeds on some PCs after recent updates.

These fixes are being rolled out gradually using Microsoft’s Controlled Feature Rollout technology, which allows features to be tested and refined with user feedback before widespread release.

Known Issues

Some lingering challenges remain in this build:

  • The Start menu may not open on click for some Insiders (use the Windows key instead).

  • Notification center and system tray visibility issues.

  • File Explorer’s copy dialog may flash, and missing scrollbars in dark mode when text scaling.
Microsoft is actively investigating and encourages feedback via the Feedback Hub to facilitate rapid resolution.

Insider Program Reminders

  • All recent builds are based on Windows 11 version 25H2, deployed through enablement packages.

  • Feature rollouts are managed with Controlled Feature Rollout technology and may not reach all PCs immediately.

  • New experiences may never be released outside Insider channels; some features may be withdrawn, changed, or replaced based on feedback and testing outcomes.

  • Localization issues may appear, as features are still being finalized in development builds.

  • For complete build tracking, visit Microsoft’s Flight Hub.

Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.7051 delivers new AI features, gaming innovations, and enhanced compatibility, continuing Microsoft’s drive for a smarter, more collaborative PC experience.
