Xbox Free Play Days is lining up a stacked weekend featuring Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, FBC: Firebreak, and Black Desert, with a mix of shooters, MMOs, and arcade racing on the menu from March 5. These time-limited trials give players a full taste of each game while letting progress and achievements carry over if you decide to buy.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and Black Desert are available for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and Essential members to play free from Thursday, March 5 through Sunday, March 8. As detailed in the latest Xbox Wire Free Play Days blog, FBC: Firebreak and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 go a step further by being free for all Xbox players—no Game Pass membership needed—for the duration of their trial windows.
Dates and access details

FBC: Firebreak is free for all Xbox members from March 5 through March 8, giving everyone a long weekend to squad up and dive into its co-op action. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s free access runs from March 5 at 10 a.m. PT until March 9 at 10 a.m. PT, offering an extended trial that covers both Multiplayer and Zombies modes.
For Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and Black Desert, you’ll need an active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, or Essential subscription to participate in Free Play Days. As always, any Gamerscore and achievements you earn during the event stick to your profile, and you can pick up discounted copies of the games to keep the fun going after the event ends.
How to start playing Free Play Days
There are a couple of ways to get into the action, depending on whether you’re on web or console. On the web, head to the game’s detail page on Xbox.com, sign in with your Xbox account, and you’ll see an option to install or play with your Game Pass membership where required. Clicking through sends you into the Microsoft Store and lets you remotely install the game to your console or PC.
On Xbox consoles, open the Store, go to the Subscriptions tab, and scroll down to the Free Play Days collection on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S. From there, you can select any of the featured titles, hit Install or Play for Free, and they’ll appear in your “My games & apps” library like any other installed game.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds (SEGA)

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds lets you race across land, sea, air, and even space, warping through Travel Rings into new dimensions with each twist and turn. You can race solo or with friends in multiple modes, choose from 23 Sonic universe characters, customize your vehicle, and unlock gadgets to gain an edge on the competition. The game is also part of Xbox’s Best Rated Sale with 40% off through March 11 if you decide to buy.
Black Desert (Pearl Abyss)

Black Desert is a huge MMORPG where you can forge your own path through questing, life skills, and PvP battles, now lining up with the game’s cross-play 6th anniversary celebration. The latest Olvia Academy update helps new and returning players get settled faster, and a suite of anniversary events offers plenty of rewards for jumping in during Free Play Days. If you want a sharper start, the Seraph Starter Edition is available until March 25 to give your new adventurer a big boost.

FBC: Firebreak (Remedy Entertainment)

FBC: Firebreak is a co-op first-person shooter set inside a mysterious federal agency under siege by otherworldly forces. You play as Firebreak, the Bureau’s elite response unit, dropping into surreal crisis zones inside the headquarters to restore order and battle your way back from the brink. The game supports Xbox Play Anywhere and is optimized for Xbox Series X|S, so your progress carries between console and PC.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 – Cross-Gen Bundle (Activision)

For the duration of Free Play Days, you can jump into a sizable slice of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 at no cost, including full access to Multiplayer and Zombies content. Multiplayer includes more than 25 maps, from classics like Nuketown to newer Season 02 maps such as Torment, Sake, Nexus, and a remastered Slums. Zombies fans can survive the hordes on the new Mars Survival map, tackle two round-based Zombies maps, and try out the new Cursed Survival mode.
As usual, all four games will be available at a limited-time discount during Free Play Days, so if you find a new favorite, you can pick it up and keep playing without losing progress. Xbox says to stay tuned to Microsoft News Now for future Free Play Days lineups, so expect more big-name weekend trials to hit the calendar throughout 2026.
