Xbox and Ubisoft are teaming up to turn the first week of April into an Assassin’s Creed buffet, with six games in the series available to play at no cost for a limited time for this weekend’s Xbox Free Play Days (see last weekend’s. From April 2–6, Xbox players can jump into Unity, Syndicate, Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla, and Mirage without needing an Xbox Game Pass membership, making it one of the most generous Free Play Days lineups yet.
In a new Xbox Wire blog post, Ubisoft lays out how this special edition of Free Play Days is built to help players “find their Assassin” by matching each game to different playstyles, whether you are into pure stealth, sprawling RPGs, or open-world exploration. The event also doubles as an easy on-ramp for anyone who has been Assassin’s Creed-curious but unsure where to start across such a long-running series.
Six Assassin’s Creed Worlds, Zero Commitment
Across the four-day window, players can download and play:
-
Assassin’s Creed Unity – stealth-focused assassination playground set in Paris during the French Revolution.

-
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate – dual-protagonist adventure in Victorian London, mixing gadgets, gang warfare, and flexible stealth/combat builds.

-
Assassin’s Creed Origins – exploration-heavy journey across ancient Egypt, built around discovery, history, and a more open structure.

-
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – a full-blown RPG set in ancient Greece with branching stories, dialogue choices, and deep gear systems.

-
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – Viking Age saga in England for players who love huge sandboxes, settlement building, and long-term progression.

-
Assassin’s Creed Mirage – a tighter, stealth-first return to classic series roots in 9th-century Baghdad, designed as a more focused experience.

All six titles are also heavily discounted in both the Ubisoft Store and the Microsoft Store during the event, and any progress made during Free Play Days will carry over if you decide to buy.
Pick Your Assassin by Playstyle
Rather than just dropping a list of free games, Ubisoft has framed this event as a kind of personality test for your preferred way to play.
-
Stealth fans are pointed toward Assassin’s Creed Unity, which turns Paris into a dense, vertical sandbox of crowds, rooftops, and tools like smoke bombs, phantom blades, and distraction gadgets.
-
Players who love gadgets and flexible roles get Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, where twins Jacob and Evie Frye support brawler or stealth-heavy builds and unlock a range of weapons and tools from kukris to rope launchers.
Explorers are steered toward Assassin’s Creed Origins, which leans into the joy of simply existing in its world—climbing pyramids, sailing the Nile, and visiting iconic cities while crossing paths with historical figures like Cleopatra and Caesar. RPG enthusiasts are encouraged to try Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, which offers branching quests, meaningful choices, loot depth, and a massive Greek world anchored by either Alexios or Kassandra.
For sandbox conquerors, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla offers a long-form Viking power fantasy built around raids, territory control, and settlement growth, rewarding players who want their decisions to ripple across dozens of hours. And for anyone overwhelmed by choice—or who hasn’t touched the series in years—Assassin’s Creed Mirage is pitched as a compact, back-to-basics stealth experience, with open-ended assassination scenarios and a smaller, denser city.
Xbox Free Play Days Discounts and Progress Carryover
During the April 2–6 window, all six games are not only free to play but also on significant sale, making it easy to keep going if one of them clicks with your playstyle. Any progress, achievements, and saves made during Free Play Days will carry over into the full versions if you purchase, whether through the Ubisoft Store, the Microsoft Store, or by accessing the games through Game Pass afterward.
For Xbox players, this event is a low-risk way to sample different eras and flavors of Assassin’s Creed, figure out which style resonates most, and potentially add a new favorite to the library—without wasting time or money guessing where to begin.
