April’s Xbox Indie Selects drop brings together some of the most creative new indie titles on Xbox, spanning everything from chaotic beat ’em ups to cozy city builders and galaxy-shaping puzzle adventures. Every Wednesday, players can jump into the Indie Selects Hub on the Xbox Store or visit Xbox.com/IndieSelects to discover this curated collection and its rotating themed spotlights.

In a new Xbox Wire post, the ID@Xbox team breaks down why these games earned a spot in the lineup this month. The picks celebrate different cultures, genres, and tones, showcasing how far indie creativity can stretch on Xbox.
Scott Pilgrim EX and Ghetto Zombies Bring the Chaos

Headlining the list is Scott Pilgrim EX, a fresh follow-up for the beloved franchise that turns Toronto into a battleground between rival gangs of Vegans, Robots, and Demons. This new beat ’em up channels classics like Castle Crashers and Turtles in Time, with four-player co-op, open-world exploration, upgradeable abilities, and plenty of tongue-in-cheek humor as you brawl through time-twisting streets.

On the more explosive end of the spectrum, Ghetto Zombies: Graffiti Squad taps into Brazil’s wave of standout indie hits. Set in a post-apocalyptic city, you control a squad of mutant kids using bizarre weapons—like ketchup blasters and spring-loaded boxing gloves—to blast zombies while tagging the city with graffiti. The game mixes top-down shooting with strategic play, challenging players to balance smart positioning, weapon experimentation, and steady progression back at base.
Showgunners and Sumerian Six Turn Up the Tactics

Strategy fans get two different flavors of tactical gameplay. Showgunners is a dystopian game-show-styled, turn-based tactics title that blends the over-the-top energy of “The Running Man” with approachable, Gears Tactics-style combat. As Scarlett, you lead a growing squad through deadly arenas, managing action points, special abilities, and unpredictable “Plot Twists” introduced mid-match to keep you on edge.

Sumerian Six shifts the action into an alternate WWII setting where a team of scientist-commandos must stop Nazis from weaponizing occult power. This stealth-focused real-time tactics game emphasizes careful movement, vision cone management, and synchronized maneuvers using a pause-and-queue command system. With unique character abilities—including one squad member who can literally turn into a bear—it rewards experimentation and mastery across large, multi-layered levels.
Laysara and Bubblegum Galaxy Offer Chill-but-Deep Building

For players who prefer planning and puzzle-like design, Laysara: Summit Kingdom and Bubblegum Galaxy offer more relaxed, thoughtful experiences. Laysara: Summit Kingdom is a vertical city builder set on snowy mountain peaks, where you manage castes of laborers, artisans, monks, and ever-important yaks. Instead of combat, the challenge comes from space management, supply chains, and preparing for environmental threats like avalanches.

Bubblegum Galaxy, meanwhile, is a cozy 3D narrative puzzle game starring Haco, a cat-like planet architect who accidentally deletes the galaxy on their first day at work. Players rebuild the cosmos by placing hex-based tiles to construct planets, balancing color matches, edge connections, and quest objectives. Its low-poly aesthetic, character-driven storytelling, and flexible difficulty let you decide whether to chase high scores or simply relax and vibe out.
