Microsoft Copilot on Windows: Vision Desktop Share Update Begins Rolling Out to Insiders

Microsoft is once again setting new standards for productivity and creativity with its latest update to the Copilot app on Windows. The highly anticipated Vision Desktop Share feature is now rolling out to Windows Insiders, introducing a seamless way to collaborate with Copilot in real time by sharing your desktop, browser, or individual app windows.

What Is Vision Desktop Share?

Microsoft Copilot on Windows: Vision Desktop Share Update Begins Rolling Out to Insiders

Vision Desktop Share is a breakthrough addition to Copilot on Windows, letting users share their screen—whether it’s the full desktop, a specific browser, or any app window—with the AI-powered Copilot assistant. Once enabled, Copilot “sees” exactly what you see and interacts with you, providing smart analysis, personalized coaching, and instant insights. The feature is designed to transform how users work, play, and create on their PCs.

Features:

  • Real-Time Visual Analysis: Copilot can examine and interpret whatever is on your screen. Whether you’re prepping a creative project, working on a resume, or navigating a tricky video game, Copilot can give actionable feedback and tailored advice on the spot.

  • Voice Integration: Already talking to Copilot? Now, you can enhance your conversation by clicking the glasses icon during a voice chat, instantly giving Copilot visual context to what you’re working on, making assistance even smarter and more relevant.

  • Easy to Use and End Sessions: Launch Vision Desktop Share by clicking the glasses icon in the Copilot composer, select the screen or window to share, and start asking for help. Stopping sharing is as simple as pressing ‘Stop’ or the ‘X’ in the composer interface.

How to Access Vision Desktop Share

The update is available as version 1.25071.125 or higher of the Copilot app, distributed via the Microsoft Store. It is currently rolling out to Windows Insiders enrolled in markets where Windows Vision is enabled. Not all Insiders will receive the update immediately, as Microsoft is pursuing a gradual rollout to ensure stability and collect user feedback before expanding further.

Step-by-Step:

  1. Update the Copilot App: Make sure your Copilot app is at version 1.25071.125 or above.

  2. Open Copilot Composer: Launch the Copilot app from your Windows device.

  3. Click the Glasses (Vision) Icon: Accessible from the composer bar.

  4. Select What to Share: Choose your full desktop, or any open app or browser window.

  5. Interact with Copilot: Request tips, guidance, or ask questions—Copilot responds in real time.

  6. End the Session: Click ‘Stop’ or ‘X’ when you want to stop sharing.

Scenarios and Use Cases

Vision Desktop Share is designed with versatility in mind, promising productivity boosts for diverse groups of users:

  • Creative Projects: Receive live feedback on designs, documents, or presentations. Copilot can suggest layout improvements or catch errors before you hit save.

  • Job Applications: Share your resume to get advice on wording, formatting, and impact, all tailored to what recruiters look for.

  • Gaming: Ask Copilot for strategies, navigation tips, or troubleshooting while the game is on your screen.

  • Learning & Troubleshooting: Whether navigating a complex app or learning a new tool, Copilot acts as your personal AI tutor.

Privacy & Control

Microsoft has emphasized that Vision Desktop Share is entirely opt-in. Your desktop is only visible to Copilot when you explicitly choose to share it, and you can pause or end sharing anytime. This commitment to user privacy aims to give Insiders full confidence and control over their experience.

Feedback and Next Steps

Microsoft invites early users to share their thoughts and experiences directly via the Copilot app. Click on your profile icon and select “Give feedback” to help shape the future of Copilot’s Vision features. The update represents another step in Microsoft’s commitment to integrating AI into everyday tasks, streamlining workflows, and making powerful assistance accessible to everyone.

The rollout will expand to more regions and channels based on user feedback and observed stability, with further enhancements expected as Copilot continues to evolve.

Why This Matters

With Vision Desktop Share, Microsoft reaffirms its mission to equip users with innovative AI tools that adapt in real time to their needs—no matter the task. This release empowers Windows Insiders to get more done with less friction, opening new horizons for creativity, productivity, and interactive learning—all powered by Copilot.
