The 5th annual European Cyber Agora Conference officially began today, October 22, 2025, at Microsoft’s Technology Center in Brussels, gathering policymakers, cybersecurity experts, and industry leaders from across the European Union to discuss security, defense, and the role of artificial intelligence in shaping Europe’s digital future.

This year’s European Cyber Agora, co-hosted by Microsoft, the German Marshall Fund of the United States, and EU Cyber Direct, highlights Europe’s commitment to strengthening public-private cooperation to tackle emerging cybersecurity threats. The two-day event runs through October 23, 2025, featuring workshops, fireside chats, and panel discussions covering topics from AI-driven cyber resilience to hybrid threats and the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).

European Cyber Agora 2025: Focus on AI, Policy, and Cyber Defense

Microsoft Hosts European Cyber Agora 2025 in BrusselsThe 2025 edition centers around three interconnected themes:

  1. Societal Resilience in the Age of AI

  2. Accountability and Deterrence in Cyberspace

  3. Digital Transformation for Security and Defense

Among today’s major sessions is a high-level panel discussion on AI and cybersecurity, exploring how artificial intelligence can both bolster and complicate defense strategies. Another session, “Tech and Security Diplomacy in a World of Hybrid Threats,” examines how Europe is adapting diplomacy and defense frameworks in response to cyber operations and AI-driven disinformation campaigns.

Notable participants include Freddy Dezeure, Microsoft’s Deputy CISO for Europe, and prominent academics and policymakers from institutions such as University College London and the European Commission, reflecting the convergence of technological innovation and policy formation in the EU.

Securing Europe’s Digital Backbone

Workshops at the event tackle tangible infrastructure challenges such as defending Europe’s subsea cable networks, building citizen digital resilience, and aligning compliance efforts under the Cyber Resilience Act. The European Commission, national cyber agencies, and private-sector representatives are engaging on how to apply “security by design” principles across industries while supporting small and medium enterprises in meeting new cybersecurity standards.

A Platform for Regional Collaboration

The European Cyber Agora has evolved into a crucial meeting point for decision-makers, where cross-border collaboration drives tangible cybersecurity outcomes. By hosting the event, Microsoft reinforces its position as a key partner in Europe’s digital security ecosystem, promoting a shared vision of trust, transparency, and resilience in the age of AI.

As Microsoft continues to drive progress across technology, education, and security, events like the European Cyber Agora 2025 in Brussels showcase the company’s growing leadership in shaping a trusted digital future for Europe. From empowering millions through initiatives like elevAIte Indonesia to pioneering advancements in Windows innovation with the Windows 11 Start Menu redesign, Microsoft’s influence extends well beyond enterprise technology. Meanwhile, its research into autonomous systems through projects such as SentinelStep AI Agents and fast responses to platform challenges, like the Windows 11 emergency fix KB5070773, underscore a consistent commitment to innovation, security, and inclusivity. Together, these initiatives reveal a company not only advancing technology but empowering every individual and organization to thrive in an increasingly connected world.

European Cyber Agora attendees can join in person at Microsoft’s Brussels Technology Center or access streaming sessions online throughout the two-day event. The conference concludes tomorrow, October 23, with an Agora Townhall summarizing key takeaways and jointly charting Europe’s path toward a more secure digital future.
