Microsoft is gearing up for a significant announcement in the realm of artificial intelligence (AI) with a special Windows and Surface AI event scheduled for May 20, 2024. This event, as reported by The Verge, is set to take place just before the highly anticipated Build 2024 conference, will be led by CEO Satya Nadella, who will outline the company’s AI vision for both hardware and software.

One of the highlights of the event will be the introduction of the consumer versions of the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6. These new Surface devices will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon X Elite processors, which include dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) hardware designed to accelerate AI tasks within Windows 11. This marks a significant leap in integrating AI capabilities directly into consumer hardware, promising enhanced performance and new functionalities.

AI Explorer feature in Windows 11

Microsoft is also set to unveil a new AI Explorer feature for Windows 11. This feature is designed to function as a searchable timeline, cataloging user activities on the PC. It draws inspiration from the Timeline feature in Windows 10, which was eventually removed. The AI Explorer aims to provide users with an intuitive way to search for specific moments and activities, enhancing productivity and user experience.
