XBOX Free Play Days: Gears of War Reloaded, High on Life 2, Dying Light and More Play Free This Weekend

XBOX is closing out May 2026 with a strong lineup for its latest XBOX Free Play Days event, giving players a mix of action, racing, and survival experiences to try at no extra cost. This weekend, both Game Pass subscribers and all XBOX players can jump into select titles for a limited time, with some notable new and returning games in the spotlight.

According to an official XBOX Wire post, Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and Essential members can play Formula Legends and Dying Light: Definitive Edition for free from Thursday, May 28 through Sunday, May 31. Meanwhile, XBOX is also offering broader access with its “Free Play Days for All” promotion.

XBOX Free Play Days: Gears of War Reloaded Leads the Charge

Leading the lineup is Gears of War: Reloaded, which is free for all XBOX players during the event. This remastered version of the original Gears of War has been optimized for XBOX Series X|S and includes all post-launch content, such as bonus campaign chapters, multiplayer maps, and additional characters. It’s a great opportunity for longtime fans and newcomers alike to revisit one of XBOX’s most iconic franchises.

Also available to all players is High on Life 2, though this comes with a 5-hour timed trial. The sequel continues the franchise’s signature comedic style, combining fast-paced shooting with bizarre alien weapons and an over-the-top sci-fi story centered on saving humanity from an intergalactic threat.

For Game Pass members, Dying Light: Definitive Edition delivers a complete survival horror experience. Set in a zombie-infested open world, the game blends parkour movement, crafting, and intense day-night cycles that dramatically change gameplay. The Definitive Edition includes all previously released content, making it the most comprehensive version available.

Rounding out the weekend is Formula Legends, a racing title that pays tribute to the history of Formula racing. Players can race across different eras, mastering iconic cars and tracks while balancing speed, strategy, and precision driving.

Getting started is simple. Players can head to the XBOX Store on console or visit XBOX.com, sign in with their account, and download the games directly. On console, the Free Play Days collection can be found under the Subscriptions tab in the store.

As always, any progress made during the Free Play Days period carries over if you decide to purchase the game. Microsoft is also offering limited-time discounts on these titles, allowing players to keep playing at a reduced price after the event ends.
