Microsoft has announced the Xbox Game Pass July 2024 Wave 2 lineup, revealing a compact but intriguing selection of titles set to join the service. This announcement, which unusually only covers releases up to July 19, has sparked speculation about potential additions from the recently acquired Activision back catalog, including highly anticipated Call of Duty titles.

Speculation on Activision additions
The shorter-than-usual announcement period has led to widespread speculation that Microsoft may be preparing to add games from the Activision back catalog later in the month. This could potentially include titles from the popular Call of Duty franchise, which would be a significant boost to the Game Pass library.
Games leaving Game Pass
As new titles join, three games will be departing Game Pass on July 31:
- A Short Hike (Cloud, Console, and PC).
- Train Sim World 4 (Cloud, Console, and PC).
- Venba (Cloud, Console, and PC).
Subscribers can purchase these titles at a discount of up to 20% before they leave the service.
Looking ahead
While the July 2024 Wave 2 lineup may seem smaller compared to previous months, it’s important to note that July is traditionally a slower month for new game releases. However, the potential for surprise additions from the Activision catalog keeps anticipation high among Xbox Game Pass subscribers.
Megan Spurr, Senior Community Lead for Xbox Game Pass, hinted at more to come, stating, “Let’s get to the games (and let’s stay in touch, we have another update for you soon)!” This tease suggests that exciting announcements may be on the horizon for Xbox Game Pass members.
As the gaming landscape continues to evolve, Xbox Game Pass remains a key player in the subscription gaming market. With the potential for significant additions from the Activision library, subscribers have much to look forward to in the coming weeks and months.
