Microsoft End of Support 2024: Product retirements

Several products, governed by the Modern Policy, will retire in 2024:

End of Servicing

The following product versions will end support in 2024:

Extended support

Products moving from Mainstream to Extended Support in 2024 will continue to receive security updates at no cost but paid non-security updates and support will be available. During the Extended Support phase, Microsoft will not accept requests for design changes or new features.

What this means for users

The Microsoft end of support date for these products means that Microsoft will no longer provide updates or patches, which could potentially expose users to security vulnerabilities. Therefore, it’s crucial for users and IT professionals to plan for these transitions and updates. If you’re using any of these products, consider upgrading to a newer version or finding a suitable alternative.

For technical support, customers must purchase Extended Security Updates and have an active support plan in place. To avoid potential security vulnerabilities and minimize risk for your App Service apps, follow the steps to upgrade your app to .NET 8 (LTS) by 12 November 2024.
