Microsoft has announced the retirement of the Xbox Ambassadors program, a community-driven initiative that has fostered connections and positivity among Xbox players for over 13 years. The program, which has been instrumental in shaping the Xbox experience, will officially come to an end on October 15, 2024.
According to Microsoft, the decision to end the program is part of the company’s efforts to evolve and adapt to the changing needs of its global community. Players are increasingly finding value in engaging with Xbox through other programs such as Fanfest, Xbox Insider Program, and Rewards with Xbox, which offer more direct ways to influence and impact the Xbox experience.
What the change means for the Xbox Ambassadors program?
The phasing out of the seasonal Ambassador Quests marks a significant shift in the program’s structure. Instead, Microsoft will expand Rewards with Xbox and Xbox Research, providing new avenues for players to share feedback and contribute to the development of Xbox games and features.
To continue the legacy of the Xbox Ambassadors program, Microsoft is introducing several new initiatives:
- Xbox Community Pledge: A call to action for all players to contribute to creating a positive experience while playing on Xbox.
- Xbox Insider Program and Xbox Research: Opportunities for players to provide valuable feedback and help shape the future of Xbox.
- Xbox FanFest: A platform for players to connect with others and enjoy exclusive events and community benefits.
- Rewards with Xbox: A program offering rewards for playing games, including opportunities to receive free access to Game Pass Ultimate.
- Xbox Community Standards: Keep the community safe and fun by following guidelines to make a more welcoming gaming environment on Xbox.
As part of the transition, the Xbox Ambassadors website will go offline on October 15, 2024. Active Ambassadors will have until this date to claim any outstanding codes or rewards. Weekly sweepstakes will be held leading up to October 15 to help Ambassadors use up their ticket balances. The Accessibility Explorer Path will remain open, and the Xbox Ambassadors badge will be updated with a special legacy design.
The end of the Xbox Ambassadors program marks a significant chapter in the history of Xbox. While the program’s closure may be seen as a loss by some, Microsoft is committed to integrating its values across the platform and creating more inclusive and engaging experiences for all players. The company is proud of the impact made by Xbox Ambassadors and looks forward to continuing this work in new and expanded ways.
