Xbox is rolling out a fresh batch of highly requested features to Xbox Insiders, giving players more control over customization, performance, and personalization across the console experience. The new Xbox Insider update introduces expanded Home screen groups, custom user colors, improved Quick Resume controls, and new profile badge visibility.

These features are currently available to select Xbox Insider rings, with a broader rollout expected in the coming weeks and months as Microsoft gathers feedback and refines the experience. According to a new Xbox Wire blog post, the update reflects ongoing efforts to make the Xbox dashboard more flexible and player-focused.

More Control Over Your Home Screen

One of the biggest changes in this update is a major upgrade to Home screen customization. Xbox Insiders can now add up to 10 groups on Home, a significant jump from the previous limit of just two.

This makes it much easier for players to organize their games, apps, and content categories exactly how they want. Microsoft has also streamlined group management, allowing users to reorder groups using the same intuitive system already used for rearranging games. Additionally, it’s now clearer which groups are pinned to Home, reducing confusion when customizing layouts.

Custom Colors Bring Personalization to Life

Personalization is getting a major boost with the introduction of custom color options. Instead of choosing from a fixed set of system colors, players can now create their own unique color using sliders to fine-tune hue and shade.

This custom color extends subtly into the Guide interface, adding a personalized touch without overwhelming the UI. Players who prefer a cleaner look can toggle this feature off at any time.

Microsoft has also added safeguards to ensure readability and visual consistency across the dashboard. Notably, your last custom color is saved even if you switch back to a default theme, making it easy to revert later. A wider rollout of custom colors is expected with the April Xbox update.

Quick Resume Gets Much-Needed Flexibility

Quick Resume remains one of Xbox’s most popular features, but it hasn’t been perfect for every game—especially titles that require constant online connections or frequent updates.

With this update, players can now disable Quick Resume on a per-game basis. This ensures that certain games always start fresh, avoiding potential issues caused by resuming from a suspended state after long periods.

The setting can be accessed directly from a game’s “More options” menu or through the game management settings, giving players more granular control over their experience.

Profile Badges Now Easier to See

Xbox is also improving how player achievements and milestones are showcased. Profile badges—used to highlight notable accomplishments—will now display the five most recently unlocked badges directly within the Guide.

This makes it easier to view your own achievements or check out other players’ milestones without diving deep into profile menus.

Xbox Insider Update Rolling Out Soon to More Players

As with most Xbox Insider updates, these features will gradually expand to additional testing rings before arriving for all Xbox users. Microsoft continues to rely heavily on Insider feedback to shape the final experience, so expect further tweaks and refinements ahead of a full public release.

If this update is any indication, Xbox is doubling down on personalization and user control—two areas that players have been consistently asking Microsoft to improve.
